    Hello all,

I know there have been a few posts already about the soft focus but I wanted to upload a few of my tests and see if this is what is considered "normal" because to me it looks badly blurred. The photos were taken within 10 seconds of turning on the camera that is sitting on a tripod. Photos stitched using Gear Manager as I read that its better than Action Director at compression.

I look at these photo examples http://360camerasfor...m-the-gear-360/ which to me look much clearer and think something is not quite right with my camera. Here is a specific garden one for comparison https://kuula.co/post/7fy8w

Are Samsung aware of issue are they accepting refunds/replacements?

    Thanks,

Oddly enough every time I load the gear 360 mobile app and connect the camera I get a notification saying update is available but I have the latest firmware version already installed :/ Any one else experience this? See screen shots of what I see every time I connect.

      Thanks,

In each picture, a different part of the scene is not in focus - did you turn the camera? You never had the camera on before taking the pictures (for a long while), so this is not from the camera getting hot? If not, this is indeed not normal, and you should return the camera for a replacement.

I was the one who took that garden video, and as long as I do not let the camera get very hot I have had no sharpness problems. I have taken over 75 360 pictures using the Gear 360 for Google Street View, and I am now a Google Trusted Photographer.

I did turn the camera to take different photos to see if areas would go in and out of focus depending on camera angle.

Just out of interest how did you stitch your photos? Did you use Samsung software or something else?

          Thanks,

This is an "issue" you are having with your camera. Just return it for a new one, if you are sure you did not overheat the camera before you took those pictures. Samsung will do it; others have gotten exchanges from Samsung. Others do not have the problem.

If you return it, there is no better option for pictures, so you will be stuck unless something new and better comes along. The best (and better) option for 360 video is the dual Kodak 360 4K's.

Sorry I have taken the links down as I have concluded the Gear 360 I have is broken. I managed to test 3 Gear 360's in the same location and same orientation and I found that my original one is indeed blurred and out of focus compared to the others. In fact its quite shocking how bad it is. I found testing the camera on grass is good as you can see how sharp/blurred the blades of grass are.

If yours is broken, you can simply contact Samsung and arrange to send it back to them regardless if its broken or not if you are still within 30 days of purchase. You can either send it back via the returns bag the sent with the product or arrange a free collection. You then have the option to ask for a replacement or refund. They do require you to have the original packing and everything else with it though.

If you are outside of the 30 days and you wish to return it for a refund or replacement, you send it back the same way as above but they must send it off for testing to check its faulty. This can take up to 10 days. Then they will either offer you a refund or replacement as long as it is faulty.

What I did and I think is the best option. I placed a new order so I had the broken one and the new one to do a comparison test as well as another one I had borrowed. Then once I was certain, I arranged for the broken one to be sent back for a refund. Since I am within 30 days of purchase it wouldn't have mattered if it was broken or not as I am entitled to return it regardless.

I hope this helps somebody who is experiencing the same issue. It may differ if you didn't purchase directly from Samsung though. If that is the case you may have to jump through a few more hoops with the supplier.

Following on from this I do start to get blurred video after about 5 minutes on the front lens using highest resolution. I tested this one two cameras which had the same results. Is this the case for everyone? Any examples of filming for say 30 minutes?
